Mötley Crüe Sell Recorded Music Catalog To BMG

Mötley Crüe Sell Recorded Music Catalog To BMG

Record label BMG has announced that it has acquired the entire recorded catalog of Mötley Crüe.

BMG said the deal is the largest single catalog acquisition since the global music company was founded in 2008.

The agreement includes the iconic band's entire recorded output spanning their 40-year career totaling nine studio albums from their 1981 debut Too Fast For Love through the latest release in 2008 Saints of Los Angeles, as well as several platinum-selling live albums and compilation sets.

It comes as the band are on a new high after Netflix biopic The Dirt converted a new generation of fans with an astonishing 92 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes for the 'warts 'n' all' movie.

"It feels amazing to be collaborating with our new partners at BMG. Their extensive track record of success in Rock made them the perfect home to continue preserving and growing our musical legacy, ensuring we always stay at The Top," Mötley Crüe said in a statement.

Mötley Crüe's manager Allen Kovac added, "After working side by side with BMG for well over a decade, the relationship we have developed and success we've accomplished over the years made this a very easy transition to entrust with this treasured Rock catalog".

In June 2022, Mötley Crüe will kick off their previously postponed U.S. stadium tour, marking the group's return to the stage for their first major concert run since 2015.

BMG said its global catalog team will embark on its plan to re-promote the heavy metal band's work beginning in 2022.

Queen's Brian May Slams 'Frightening' Move To Scrap Gendered BRIT Awards

Queen's Brian May Slams 'Frightening' Move To Scrap Gendered BRIT Awards

Queen guitarist Brian May slammed the BRIT Awards over their decision to scrap gendered categories, describing the "frightening" move as "a decision that has been made without enough thought."

May's sharp criticism comes after the BRITs scrapped the male solo artist, female solo artist, international male solo artist and international female solo artist categories and introduced two gender-neutral categories - artist of the year and international artist of the year.

The BRITs explained the change was to reward artists "solely for their music and work, rather than how they choose to identify or as others may see them" and was part of the event's "commitment to evolving the show to be as inclusive and as relevant as possible."

The decision to change the BRIT Awards' system came after non-binary singer Sam Smith criticized the awards for a lack of inclusivity.

During ITV's Palooza event in London on November 23, May told The Mirror that the decision has been made without enougth thought. "A lot of things work quite well and can be left alone," he said.

"I get so sick of people trying to change things without thinking of the long-term consequences," he added. "Some of these things are an improvement, some of them are not."

May felt there was an "atmosphere of fear everywhere because people are afraid to say how they really think," adding, "I think so many people are feeling, 'Hang on, this isn't quite right.' But they don't dare say anything. Eventually, there will be some kind of explosion."

He added: "[Queen] would be forced to have people of different colors and different sexes and we would have to have a trans [person]. You know life doesn't have to be like that. We can be separate and different."

Blink-182's Mark Hoppus Shares Uplifting Message About Battle With Cancer

Blink-182's Mark Hoppus Shares Uplifting Message About Battle With Cancer

In an uplifting Thanksgiving message, Mark Hoppus shared about his battle with cancer and the current state of his health.

"I have so much to be thankful for today. This photo is from June, halfway through chemo, no idea if it was working or not, relegated to the bathroom floor, retching," the Blink-182 singer/bassist wrote on Instagram on Thanksgiving Day.

Hoppus, 49, also shared a photo of himself crouching by a toilet.

"If I ever complain about something trivial or unimportant, please show me this photo to remind me of how bad things can be, and how truly blessed I am. I hope you all have an amazing day with friends and family. Happy Thanksgiving," he added.

Hoppus had revealed in June that he had been battling cancer for three months.

He has been giving regular updates on the treatment for Stage 4-A Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma since then.

The "What's My Age Again?" singer announced in September that he is cancer-fee.

Hoppus said that he still has to get scanned every six months and it will take him until the end of the year to get back to normal.

Marilyn Manson's Home Raided By L.A. County Sheriff Amid Abuse Investigation

Marilyn Manson's Home Raided By L.A. County Sheriff Amid Abuse Investigation

Marilyn Manson's home was raided by the L.A. County Sheriff on Monday amid an ongoing sexual abuse investigation against the disgraced musician.

According to Rolling Stone, Special Victims Unit investigators searched for belongings in connection with the sexual assault allegations against Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, between 2009 and 2011.

"What I can confirm is there was a search warrant that was served this morning," an L.A. County Sheriff's source said. "It's confirmed it was [Warner's] address, his location. It was a search warrant for his belongings."

Manson currently faces several lawsuits filed against the rocker by his former girlfriends accusing him of abuse. In April, actress Esmé Bianco filed a lawsuit against Manson alleging she was the victim of sexual abuse by the goth rock singer.

Later, Manson's ex-assistant Ashley Walters also filed a lawsuit against the singer for alleged sexual assault. Several other women, including actress Evan Rachel Wood and model Ashley Morgan Smithline, have also accused the singer of abuse.

"On November 29th, 2021, at 7:00 AM, detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Special Victims Bureau served a search warrant at Mr. Warner's Hollywood area home as part of the ongoing investigation," the department said in a press release. "Mr. Warner was not home at the time of the warrant service. During the search, detectives seized items such as media storage devices."

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss' 'Raise The Roof' Debuts In Top 10 On Billboard 200

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss' covers album Raise The Roof has debuted in the top 10 on the all-genre Billboard 200.

The 12-track Raise the Roof, which dropped on November 19, is a collection of covers like the pair's previous album Raising Sand, which was produced by T-Bone Burnett, who also worked with Plant and Krauss on the new album.

The album bowed at No.7 on the Billboard 200, earning 40,000 equivalent album units, according to MRC Data. Of that sum, album sales comprise 38,000, SEA units comprise 2,000, which equals to 2.17 million on-demand streams, and TEA units comprise less than 1,000.

With the album, Plant scored his ninth top 10 as a solo artist, while Krauss earned her fifth, including her work with Union Station.

Plant and Krauss' first collaboration 2007's Raising Sand had debuted and peaked at No. 2. The set later won the Grammy Award for album of the year.

Bruce Kulick Shares Video Tribute To Late KISS Drummer Eric Carr

Bruce Kulick Shares Video Tribute To Late KISS Drummer Eric Carr

Former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick shared a tribute video for late bandmate Eric Carr on the 30th anniversary of the drummer's death.

In the video, Kulick shows photos of himself and Carr as he recalls their friendship and performances together.

"Eric Carr passed away 30 years ago, on November 24th, 1991. Although it sounds like a long period of time his presence has never left me. He was my dear friend and bandmate. My years traveling, working and playing in KISS with him, were unforgettable. Please enjoy my memories of this great man, and know his legend will always live on in the hearts and minds of his fans, family and friends," reads the tribute video's description on YouTube.

"Eric was a powerful drummer," Kulick says in the video. "His drum solos were exciting and thunderous. He was small in stature but chose the largest drum kit possible and played them like a giant. I joined KISS in the fall of 1984, touring in the U.K. and Europe. Eric and I quickly became friends. Filming Animalize Live was certainly a thrill for both of us."

While performing on the Kiss Kruise last month, Kulick included several Carr originals in his set, including "Can You Feel It?" and "Eyes of Love," two songs from Carr's 1991 solo album, Rockology, as well as "Little Caesar," the only KISS song Carr sang lead on.

We spent a lot of time writing songs and working on this record together."

Deep Purple Share Animated 'Rockin' Pneumonia And The Boogie Woogie Flu' Video

Deep Purple Share Animated 'Rockin' Pneumonia And The Boogie Woogie Flu' Video

Deep Purple recently released an animated video for their cover of Huey "Piano" Smith's 1957 classic, "Rockin' Pneumonia And The Boogie Woogie Flu."

The version is part of the band's Turning To Crime record, released on Friday (November 26). Bob Ezrin produced the album, which contains songs not written by the band.

The record includes songs originally done by Cream, The Yardbirds, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan and more.

"Rockin' Pneumonia And The Boogie Woogie Flu" became a U.S. Top 10 entry for Johnny Rivers in 1972. Several artists have covered the song over the years, and Deep Purple keyboardist Don Airey speaks about a 1974 cover of the song by Professor Longhair in a video clip previewing the tune.

"I'm supposed to say it's a song I always wanted to do since I was a child, but at the same time it was quite new to me. I didn't know the original very well, but I knew Professor Longhair's version, which is the one that inspired my arrangement," Airey says.

He adds, "I just love the whole thing, that style of piano playing.Very, very hard to replicate. It was a bit of a challenge. And when it came back from the other members of the band with all this other music on it, I just thought: 'Wow, that worked out. What an insane arrangement!'"

Midnight Oil Announce New Album 'Resist,' Final Tour

Midnight Oil Announce New Album 'Resist,' Final Tour

Australian rock band Midnight Oil recently announced a new album and a Farewell Tour.

Midnight Oil announced that a chapter of their half-a-century long career will come to a memorable close next year with the release of a 12-song LP they recorded with late bass player Bones Hillman and a series of big gigs. Both are titled Resist.

The band also announced that this will be their final concert tour while making it clear that this does not mean the end of the Oils.

Each of the members will continue their own projects over the years ahead. They also remain very open to recording new music together in the future and supporting causes in which they believe.

The tour will see them perform classic Midnight Oil songs from across their repertoire while also showcasing some "urgent new works."

Resist engages with the issues of today and tomorrow - like the lead single "Rising Seas," which tackles the climate crisis in typically uncompromising fashion.

The album pre-order and Australasian tickets will go on-sale beginning November 30.

Midnight Oil said they are also planning a handful of international concerts, subject to Covid restrictions.

Drummer Rob Hirst says, "If I look back, I see a blur of familiar names and faces: Jim, Pete, Martin, Bear and me, slamming loud prog-pop in a Chatswood garage; Giffo, magnificent, rocking back and forth at his first Royal Antler gig; Bonesy, headphones on, singing, lounging on the deck learning our catalogue."

"I see our managers in their offices; our folks-in-the-engine-room; our wives and trusted friends, and the tiny faces of the 'Baby Oils'; and the first two rows of a thousand gigs: Midnight Oil fans, pumping, jumping, singing louder than the band...But I don't look back," he added.

Resist will be Midnight Oil's 15th studio album.

A Midnight Oil special performance on "The Sound" is set to air on Sunday at 5:30 pm on ABC TV or ABC iview.

Machine Gun Kelly has reacted after he was snubbed from the recently announced Grammy nominations.

On Tuesday, November 23, the Recording Academy revealed the nominees for the 2022 Grammy Awards, which includes artists like Lil Nas X, Olivia Rodrigo, Doja Cat and Jay-Z. However, MGK's Tickets to My Downfall received zero nominations.

"wtf is wrong with the grammys," MGK tweeted shortly after the nominees were announced.

Tickets To My Downfall, his 2020 collaborative album with Travis Barker, was eligible in a number of rock categories, but he didn't receive any nominations.

Meanwhile, Kelly is already working on his follow-up to Tickets to My Downfall. Titled Born With Horns, the upcoming album is another collab with Barker and features lead single "Papercuts."

Last year, The Weeknd also did not receive any nominations for the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards for his blockbuster album After Hours. He responded by calling the Grammys "corrupt" in social media posts.

New Megadeth Album 'The Sick, The Dying And The Dead' Set To Drop In Spring 2022

New Megadeth Album 'The Sick, The Dying And The Dead' Set To Drop In Spring 2022

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has revealed that the group's new album, The Sick, The Dying And The Dead, will drop in the spring of 2022.

During an interview with American Songwriter magazine, Mustaine also said that the album's title, The Sick, The Dying And The Dead, is not about the Covid-19 pandemic or his recent battle with cancer but rather about the 14th century plague aka the Black Death.

"The song itself was a historical journey of how the plague started and where it went, starting with rats on ships carrying the disease, coming ashore in Sicily," Mustaine said.

Mustaine also revealed that most of the music on the album is comprised of ideas that he's had sitting in a drawer for years.

"A lot of the riffs have been saved over time," he said. "A brand new song can be made up of something I wrote when I was 15 or 55. If It's a good riff, I'll save it."

The Sick, the Dying, and the Dead will be Megadeth's first new album since firing bassist David Ellefson amidst a sex scandal earlier this year.

The band has re-recorded Ellefson's bass lines. However, it has not been revealed who recorded them. Meanwhile, James LoMenzo has replaced Ellefson on tour.

Tanya O'Callaghan Replaces Michael Devin As Whitesnake Bassist

Whitesnake have parted ways with long-time bassist Michael Devin ahead of their farewell tour and replaced him with Irish bassist Tanya O'Callaghan.

"Whitesnake & bassist Michael Devin have decided to go their separate ways after an amazingly successful decade together...," the British rock band announced on social media.

Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale recalled that along with numerous tours, Devin applied his talent to studio albums Forevermore, The Purple Album and Flesh & Blood.

"We sincerely thank him for being part of our journey & for all his exceptional gifts he brought to Whitesnake," he added.

Devin is leaving Whitesnake after a decade with the group.

In an update a couple of days later, Whitesnake announced the replacement for Devin.

"A whirling dervish of a performer whom we feel will bring a fresh, new, exciting musicality & welcome energy to the band, both in the studio & onstage. here she is. Irish born & bred. the one & only. Tanya O'Callaghan," Coverdale said in a welcome note, describing the new bassist as "The Irish Tornado."

O'Callaghan said it is an absolute honor to be joining Whitesnake/David Coverdale for their worldwide farewell tour in 2022/23.

"This small town gal still pinches herself over the amount of legends I've had the joy to work, tour and record with over the past few years since I made the terrifying solo leap across the Pacific with no clue how everything would unfold," O'Callaghan said.

"It's been a wild ride and just when I thought it couldn't get any better, who calls, only feckin' WHITESNAKE!" she added. "And the best part, to step into the snake shoes of my bass brothers Rudy Sarzo, Tony Franklin Neil Murray and Michael Devin ... are you kidding me...what a f#*king honor beyond belief!!! My heart is exploding."

O'Callaghan is an established freelance bassist, speaker and activist, touring and guesting on pop, funk, R&B and blues projects with various bands.

Rage Against The Machine React To Kyle Rittenhouse Verdict

Rage Against The Machine React To Kyle Rittenhouse Verdict

In a rare public statement, Rage Against the Machine have slammed the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict.

Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges on Friday, November 19, after he fired an AR-15-style assault rifle that killed two protesters and seriously injured another at a 2020 rally in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The protest was in connection with the police shooting of Jacob Blake.

Rittenhouse had traveled from his home state of Illinois to Kenosha, where he shot and killed Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber. He also injured Gaige Grosskreutz. His attorneys argued that he acted in self-defense.

"What defines innocence in America? Tamir Rice was executed by police for playing with a toy. Nobody was charged. Ahmaud Arbery went jogging and was murdered in broad daylight," read a statement from the band.

"Kyle Rittenhouse armed himself and killed people who were fighting for racial justice. He claimed self-defense," they added. "This is the settler logic of America's founding myth: whiteness must cast itself as the victim in order to justify its violence against those resisting its oppression. Welcome to the Land of the Free, Home of the Brave."

RATM guitarist Tom Morello also commented individually, tweeting, "When the courts do what they were designed to do and protect and enforce white supremacy: don't mourn, organize."

Several other other musicians and celebrities have also spoke out after the verdict.
